“It is difficult to find high-quality, knowledge based Bahasa Melayu content for my children.”
It all began with our journey in raising our trilingual children whose pre-school does not offer Bahasa Melayu as a language.
How can I instill the love of Bahasa in my children? How can I prepare them for Mother Tongue in school?
Made by Discerning Parents
As parents of three young children ourselves, we have always endeavoured to make Screen Time for our children meaningful and entertaining. We want to ensure that the time they spend on the screen value-adds to their development while providing a fun break from school.
Our Kak Fifi and Mimi Programme strives to be the go-to edutainment source that can further aid their understanding of what they learnt in school.
Our Learning Videos do not go beyond more than 15 minutes each, in line with Singapore’s Integrated 24hr Activity Guideline for Early Childhood.
What We Want to Provide
We developed the Kak Fifi and Mimi Programme in hopes of providing 5 to 8 year old children with high-quality and knowledge-based content that will help supplement what they will learn in Pre-school and Primary school.
Our hope is for the Programme to not only inculcate children’s interests in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Math (STEAM), but also teach them how to harness crucial Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills that will help them progress ahead in school and life.
We want bilingual children to grow their loves for their Mother Tongues and in doing so, strengthen their affinity to their Heritage of South East Asia.
Programme Structure
Each Term consists of 18 videos which center around the themes of six Modules.
There will be three Learning Videos and five Activity Sheets per Module.
Our Learning Videos and Activity Sheets have been meticulously researched and designed in accordance to the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) Syllabus and vetted by esteemed early childhood experts in our Advisory Board.
Parents are encouraged to watch the Learning Videos together with their children and engage in discussions via the prompts included in the Learning Videos. Our Activity Sheets are aligned to what is being taught and shared in the Learning Videos.

Rafidah Jalil,
Founder & Director, STEAMSEL Edutainment
Rafidah graduated from the National University of Singapore Business School (Hons.) as a Marketing major. She spent 11 years working in Banking across multiple businesses and helmed various roles including Product Management, Implementation and Business Transformation. In her last role, she headed the Strategic Change and Management team in Commercial Banking.
Rafidah took a career break to undergo In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) to grow her family and is now a proud IVF mom to three beautiful trilingual children, a 6 year old son and a pair of 3 year old twins.
After realising the importance of early childhood development and the lack of quality bilingual resources for her children, Rafidah started STEAMSEL Edutainment with the main aim of providing knowledge-based edutainment to bilingual children. She believes strongly in harnessing the interest and love for STEAM, Social Emotional Learning and Bahasa Melayu to the younger generations. She also hopes that the Kak Fifi and Mimi Programme can help parents to up-skill themselves to be even better teachers for their children.
